Before I go to church to participate in the celebration of the Lord's passion -- I am compelled to re-post this, compliments of the Unvirtuous Abbey (look them up on Facebook, if you're curious).
These would actually be Good Friday cookies, no? And we can't eat them (yet) because today is a day of fasting and abstinence....
I discovered in a Facebook comment thread that these cookies are actually made in Italy, in commemoration of Padre Pio, who experienced stigmata over a period of fifty years, until the end of his life.
